Care Guide: How to Make Your Branded Gazebo Last 25 Years
Our Deluxe Pro HD Aluminium frames come with a 25-year warranty. Here is how to actually see that quarter-century from your branded gazebo.

We sell our top-end Deluxe Pro HD Aluminium 45 Hex Series gazebos with a 25-year hardware warranty. That’s longer than most cars last, and longer than most marketing teams stay at one job. The warranty is real – but a 25-year service life depends on a few simple habits. Here is how to actually see your gazebo through to year 25.
The four killers (avoid these)
These are the four things that kill more gazebos than fair wear and tear combined:
- Storing wet. Folded fabric + trapped moisture = mould. Mould stains the canopy and shortens fabric life dramatically. Always air-dry before storing.
- Skipping pegs and tie-downs. Wind tears canopies and bends frames. Even a “calm” outdoor event can produce a 30km/h gust. Peg it down every time.
- Forcing a stuck slider. If a sliding leg or scissor truss does not move smoothly, do not force it. Dirt or salt grit in the slider is fixable in minutes; a snapped slider needs a spare part.
- Driving with the carry bag in the sun. Sublimated print is UV-stable on the canopy, but the carry bag fabric weakens under repeated sun exposure. Stash the bag inside the boot, not on the back seat.
Cleaning the canopy
Spot cleaning is the right approach. Do not pressure-wash or machine-wash a printed canopy – both damage the fabric coating.
For dust and surface dirt:
Wipe with a damp microfibre cloth. Plain water is enough.
For sticky spills (beer, soft drinks):
Mix a drop of mild dishwashing liquid in a bucket of warm water. Sponge the area, rinse with clean water, leave to dry flat in shade. Never in direct sun – heat sets stains.
For mud:
Let it dry completely. Brush off with a soft-bristle brush, then spot-clean any residue with mild soap.
Never use:
- Bleach (eats sublimation ink)
- Ammonia-based cleaners
- Pressure washers
- Tumble dryers
Frame care
Powder-coated steel frames (our Classic and Deluxe Premium Steel ranges):
- Wipe down after wet events
- Touch up paint chips quickly to prevent rust – any auto paint store sells matching black powder-coat touch-up
- Lubricate sliding mechanisms once a year with silicone spray (not WD-40 – attracts grit)
Aluminium frames (our Classic Aluminium and Pro HD Aluminium ranges):
- Wipe down after coastal events to remove salt
- No paint touch-up needed; aluminium oxide layer is self-healing
- Lubricate sliders annually as above
Storage
A branded gazebo lives in its carry bag 90% of its life. Storage matters.
- Indoors, off the floor. Concrete floors transfer moisture. Use a shelf or pallet.
- Cool and dry. A geyser cupboard is not ideal; a hall cupboard is fine.
- Out of direct sun. UV degrades the carry bag fabric over years.
- Loosely zipped. Force-zipping a damp bag traps moisture. Leave the zip slightly open if you are uncertain about dryness.
Annual service
Once a year, set aside 30 minutes for a full service:
- Unfold the gazebo in your driveway or yard
- Inspect every joint, slider and connector
- Lubricate sliding mechanisms with silicone spray
- Check canopy for stitching wear, especially along seams
- Check velcro on walls for fluff – clean with masking tape if needed
- Check pegs and tie-down ropes for damage – replace anything frayed
If you find a damaged component, every part of our gazebos is available as a spare. Send us a brief at the contact page with the model and the broken part – we ship spares anywhere in South Africa.
What the warranty covers
Our hardware warranties cover all sliding mechanisms, connectors, switches and centre pole springs. Wind damage is not covered if the gazebo was not properly secured with ground pegs and tie-down ropes.
That last bit is important: if the wind takes your gazebo because you skipped the pegs, you pay for the frame. Spend the 30 seconds on pegs.
When to repair vs replace
If your gazebo is still under warranty and a sliding mechanism, push-button or connector fails through normal use, that’s a warranty replacement – send us a photo and we’ll either ship the part or arrange collection at our Midrand Depot or George Showroom.
If your canopy is faded, torn or stained beyond cleaning, the frame can be re-canopied at a fraction of the cost of a new gazebo. A fresh canopy on a working frame is usually 50-60% the cost of a complete new gazebo.
Want to see year 25?
Treat your gazebo like a long-term brand asset, not a disposable event prop. The customers who get 20+ years out of theirs all share three habits: they air-dry before storing, they peg every time, and they do an annual service. Three small habits, three decades of branding.
